Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is proposing to amend Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulations to add minimum energy performance standards for Set-top Boxes. A Set-top Box is a cable, satellite, Internet Protocol or other device whose primary function is to receive television signals from a specific source and deliver them to a consumer display or recording device such as a television or DVR. These include cable boxes and satellite boxes. Dealers of energy using products that are imported or shipped inter-provincially for sale or lease in Canada would be required to comply with minimum energy performance standards and other regulatory amendments. Members wishing to see background information on the proposed amendments so that comments can be submitted before pre-publication in the Canada Gazette, Part I, can do so here: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/Set-top_Boxes-June_2010.pdf
